Throughout life, it's easy to feel a little disconnected from those around you. One of the most satisfying and fun ways to socialize and unite with your community is by volunteering and donating time to help others.
When you volunteer or donate, you get a positive sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. You help strengthen the community, and even the most trivial things can quickly change lives for the better.
At Sycamore Reserve Senior Living, you'll find our independent senior residents love volunteering and donating to worthy causes. We have regularly scheduled events and activities each month to help residents get involved.
Even if you aren't a resident, we invite you to join us, donate your time and help those that need a little lift. You'll meet new friends, interact with others, enjoy life just a little more, and help many within the surrounding communities.
Our residents enjoy collecting, donating, and sorting shoes at Changing Footprints, a local non-profit that repurposes new and gently used shoes for distribution to the homeless, disaster-stricken, or underprivileged locally, nationally, and internationally. Have a few pairs of shoes sitting around? Donate them! All donations are accepted. Shoes can be recycled, repurposed, or possibly even turned into rubber surfacing at the local playground.
With over half a million American children in foster care, becoming a part of their lives and helping them not feel forgotten or neglected is essential to our future. Together We Rise is an organization that tries to improve the lives of children in the foster care system. They help to provide bicycles, college supplies, and sweet cases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in trash bags. They provide education to the community and offer lots of ways to volunteer. Most recently, residents have been decorating new duffle bags filled with a teddy bear, blanket, hygiene kit, and more.
A cape to give hope, strength, and courage, that's the mission behind TinySuperHeroes, an organization dedicated to empowering kids as they overcome illness or disabilities. Residents love the opportunity to spend time with these tiny superheroes and help empower them to overcome adversity.
Hope Center Indy provides a safe space that focuses on the recovery of women exiting human trafficking, addiction, and other life-dominating issues. They give compassion and spiritual guidance to help empower women to heal and reintegrate into their communities. Donations are appreciated, especially clothing and unwanted mobile phone.
